After the success of season 1, RuPaul managed to bring us all back for another exciting extravaganza!
While I don’t feel like season 2 really has the same spark as season 1, I have been enjoying the chemistry and chemical explosions happening between the girls on the show. I will reserve my own personal opinion about the competitors (as it’s still so early in the game) – but I would like to take a moment to reflect on some other interesting points.
I’m not exactly sure what happened behind the scenes while getting ready for season 2, but one of my favorite aspects of the show did go missing in action! What is that you ask? Uhm, the presence of MAC Cosmetics of course! They have updated the new season to sport NYX Cosmetics (which I’ve never used myself so I don’t have an honest critique on the quality or caliber of the product) – but needless to say, it’s just not the same.
On a more positive note, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much publicity they managed to score in San Francisco (where I am based). Here is a a photo I took with my iPhone (not bad quality ehh?) while walking down the street a week or two ago (and no, I was not working)! In addition to this, they got a giant billboard propped up near the Castro advertising the same ad campaign. I’ll have to get a photo of it when I’m out next with a better camera.
While RuPaul has remained the undisputed SUPERMODEL OF THE WORLD, I think we can all agree that even supermodels have their bad days. Such was the case in Episode 3 (in my opinion). I really wasn’t feeling the pink wig (although I love how it was styled a’la classic Ru), and the eyeshadow she was sporting on her brow bone was……..interesting, but not in a flattering way. I got a kick out of the “big bird” dress she decided to wear, especially after that whole chicken deal in the show.
Mother hen much?
Either way, I’m looking forward to riding out the waves of glitter as the season moves forward. If there is one thing I never doubt when it comes to Ru is her ability to entertain, and that she does honey!
